Effective Ways to Deal with Angry People
Ancient Church of God
We all have had angry people, in our lives, relationships, or even work environments. It is important that you diffuse and help these people, to avoid them injuring themselves or others when the anger becomes almost a guidance for them to do something ignorant or damaging to themselves or property. Being angry can also lead to health issues if the person has health concerns or a history of high blood pressure.
Eye contact is important here because a person often in their eyes will reveal the why, the how, the what. Carefully listen if given enough time, no matter the craziness they are expounding.
People sometimes will slow their anger, just by empathizing with them, but be careful because some people are mad because of mental illness, or even narcotics or alcohol, this can be dangerous, but if they are sober, or sane application of empathizing words, or easing the person down from their anger ledge should be easy for you to do.
Also expel your fear, since people will sense you are uneasy, and they will use this against you and while anger they will turn the anger into manipulation. Use confidence, but do not use Ego, otherwise, you may get the angry person to even strike you so be very careful.
Five important things to add to the situations when encountering angry individuals.
- Don't worry about whether you agree with them or not.
- Relate and empathize.
- Trust your instincts to protect yourself.
- Once they have calmed down, change the direction.
- Invite their views on a solution.
Go take on the world, but be careful!!
